Early Life and Background
His Royal Majesty, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, the Omanhen (Paramount Chief) of the Abeadze Traditional Area, was born on Sunday, January 31, 1960, at Abeadze Dominase in the Central Region of Ghana.
He was born a twin and named Kwesi Atta according to Akan naming tradition, but he later became widely known as Kwebu Ewusi. He is the seventh occupant of the great Ewusi Dynasty Stool, a royal lineage that has provided leadership to the Abeadze State for generations.
His mother served as a Queen Mother of Abeadze State, while his father, Opanyin Kwesi Baffoe, was a hardworking peasant farmer from Abeadze Akyiase. He was the seventh of nine children, growing up in a modest family environment that instilled in him discipline, humility, and respect for community values.










Education
Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII began his early education at Abeadze Dominase Local Authority Primary School. During his upper primary years, he moved to Accra to live with a relative at Burma Camp, where he continued his studies at Accra School Complex.
He later returned to Abeadze Dominase and completed his basic education at the Anglican Middle School in June 1977.
Recognizing his interest in technical education, he enrolled at Takoradi Polytechnic in 1979, where he pursued studies in construction-related fields. His training included:
- City & Guilds Intermediate Certificate
- City & Guilds Advanced Certificate
- Level Craft Certificate in Block Work and Concreting
- General Construction Courses
He completed these programs in 1981, equipping himself with technical skills that later influenced his professional career.
He later broadened his academic exposure internationally by studying Construction Administration at D.O.I.T College in Dayton, Ohio, USA.
To strengthen his leadership and governance knowledge, he also enrolled in a Master’s Degree Programme in Governance and Sustainable Development at the University of Cape Coast.
Professional Career
Before ascending the throne, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII began his professional career as a National Service teacher with the Ghana Education Service, where he taught students both theoretical and practical aspects of building technology.
After two years of teaching, he joined the Manpower and Development Division of Ashanti Goldfields (now AngloGold Ashanti) in Obuasi, where he gained valuable experience in administration and workforce development.
He later established his own construction company, EGROEG Company Limited, in 1997, serving as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. The company operates with its head office in Cape Coast and has contributed to construction and development projects in Ghana.
Traditional Leadership Training
From a young age, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII was deeply involved in traditional leadership training under the guidance of his predecessor, Nana Ewusi VI.
He served the traditional court in various capacities including:

Ceremonial sword bearer
Royal horn blower
Umbrella bearer
Court attendant and emissary
Through these roles, he accompanied the Omanhen to royal engagements, traditional ceremonies, dispute resolution meetings, and sittings of the Regional House of Chiefs, gaining valuable knowledge in governance, diplomacy, and conflict resolution.
At the age of twenty-two, in June 1982, he was enstooled as the Ebusuapayin (Head of the Royal Twidan Clan) of Abeadze Dominase. His leadership within the royal clan helped strengthen unity and promote development within the family structure.
Enstoolment as Omanhen
Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII was later enstooled as the Paramount Chief (Omanhen) of the Abeadze Traditional Area, becoming the 7th King of the Ewusi Dynasty.
His leadership has been widely recognized for its focus on peace, development, education, and national service.
In August 2021, he marked 25 years of traditional leadership, a milestone celebrated as a period of transformational leadership and community development.
National Leadership and Public Service
Beyond his traditional responsibilities as Omanhen of the Abeadze Traditional Area, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII has played significant roles in national governance, institutional leadership, and development initiatives in Ghana and across West Africa. Through decades of service, he has contributed to policy development, public administration, peacebuilding, infrastructure development, and national advisory functions.

Former President, Central Regional House of Chiefs (2008), where his exceptional leadership and strong interpersonal relations earned him an unopposed re-election in 2012.
Immediate Past Vice President, National House of Chiefs (2014–2018).
Former Member, Council of State (2009–2012), serving as a key advisor to the President of the Republic of Ghana.
Member of the Presidential Transition Team during the transition from President John Evans Atta Mills to President John Dramani Mahama.
Former Board Chairman, Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (2014–2016). During his tenure, he chaired the Board Technical Sub-Committee, helping address Ghana’s national power crisis (“Dumsor”) by facilitating the addition of 360 megawatts to Ghana’s power generation capacity.
Former Chairman, Central Regional Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) (2008–2016).
Former Chairman, Ghana Association for the Prevention of Tuberculosis (2004–2016).

Chief Executive Officer, GEOBAHIN Ventures, a key distributor of Club beer and other beverages in Cape Coast and surrounding areas.

Board Chairman, Water Resources Commission, appointed by the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama.

Chairman, Made-in-Ghana Promotion Project, a role that has gained international recognition through initiatives to promote Ghanaian products abroad. In this capacity, he has led official engagements with the Ghana High Commission in the United Kingdom to promote locally manufactured products on international markets.

President, Ghana Traditional Medicine Foundation.
Board Chairman, African Young Leaders Alliance (AYLA).

He also continues to serve on key committees within the Regional and National Houses of Chiefs, including the Standing and Judicial Committees, where he contributes to traditional governance, legal adjudication, and national policy dialogue.
